Jitegemea Credit Scheme Donates Towards Drought

Following the launch of the drought appeal by the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) on 27 January, a number of individuals and corporates have come on board to support the initiative. On 21 February, Save a Kenyan Caribbean Caravan donated food and Non- Food Items (NFIs) towards the cause. 

Jitegemea Credit Scheme also followed suit and made a donation of Ksh 400,000. To issue the cheque, was the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Francis Kihiko.

"With regards to the Embrace a family initiative, the staff of Jitegemea have contributed a total of KSh 400,000 to support this initiative,” said Dr. Francis.

Currently, a total of 23 counties have been affected, of these, 10 are classified in the drought alert phase they include: Embu (Mbeere), Kajiado, Kitui, Laikipia, Makueni, Narok, Nyeri (Kieni), Taita Taveta, Meru (North), Tharaka Nithi). The 13 counties classified in the alarm phase include: Garissa, Isiolo, Marsabit, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River, Lamu, Mandera, Wajir, Samburu, Turkana West Pokot and Baringo.
