MAMA NGINA KENYATTA DONATES TOWARDS THE DROUGHT KITTY
Over 3 million Kenyans from 23 counties are facing hunger –and are in dire need of food support, due to the ongoing drought. On 22nd March 2017, the former first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta joined the rest of Kenyans and the corporate sector to support interventions spearheaded by the Kenya Red Cross Society by donating food and non food items.
Speaking during the donation handover at her residential home in Muthaiga, Mama Ngina acknowledged the impact of the drought situation in the country and did not hide her appreciation towards the Kenya Red Cross Society for the support rendered to the affected communities.
“It’s our mandate to join forces to assist fellow Kenyans affected directly by this drought,’’ said the former Kenya First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta. “Remember when you give, you receive blessings from the Almighty,” she added.
To receive the donation on behalf of the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), was the Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Abshiro Halake.
‘’Approximately 23 Counties are in need of food assistance and as humanitarian actors we are urging Kenyans, well-wishers and partners to donate to help families that are affected by this drought,’’ Said DSG Abshiro Halake. Further she thanked ‘’mama’’ for the good gesture of giving to the community.
