Emmanuel’s Fading Eyesight

Meet Emmanuel Eyanae, a fourteen-year-old boy from Kang’atosa village, Turkana Central. Emmanuel is among the tens of people waiting under a tree for medical help from an outreach site organized by the Kenya Red Cross. He is visibly struggling to see, and it is clear that he needs urgent help.

Over the last 35 Years we made an impact that is strong & we have long way to go.

TEmmanuel’s story is a heart-wrenching one. He was just a toddler when his eyes started getting teary, and his father, Joseph Ekiru, who accompanied him to the outreach site, tells us that they visited the hospital several times, but the doctors only gave them eyedrops. With no improvement, they decided to try traditional herbal medicine, which led to the disappearance of growths on his eyeballs. Unfortunately, the herbal medicine caused him to lose his eyesight, with one eye completely blind, and the other partially gone.
